Hi, I am Thomas Jackson, an assistive technology trainer for Remtek Systems LTD. I started at Remtek as a set up engineer in London and instantly found how rewarding it was to help students getting started with their new equipment and software. I became more knowledgeable about the software supplied, but I wanted to be able to help our customers even more. Remtek then allowed me to become an assistive software trainer and sent me on all the needed courses to be able to become a trainer and understand the software fully. I am certified to train on all of the software supplied by Remtek and we are given updates on the software often to go through any new additions or processes.

When you receive a training session you will be contacted by email the night before, reminding you of the meeting and how to join. On the day of the session, once you have joined, we will have a little chat to get to know each other and pin point your main struggles at university and how the software can assist you. We will then work through each piece of software at a speed that is suitable to yourself and make sure we have time for any questions needed. As you are learning the software I will make sure to prove to you how it can help with your specific worries i.e notetaking or essay writing. I will also help you book further training sessions to minimise how many calls and emails you have to make and to make the process easier for all of our customers.

I have been a software trainer for the past 6 years now and I am still finding helping customers as enjoyable as I did when I first started. Starting university can be very daunting at any age and the software provided will help make studying less of a worry. It is always amazing to see and hear how the software is helping people and to know that I have assisted them in reaching and obtaining higher grades.
